Hello again The Borough FC Supporters!?
We're excited to give some updates as we approach our first League1 Ontario away game this Friday, May 10th in Brampton vs Prostars FC.
Home Opener Recap:
In a highly anticipated debut at Birchmount Stadium, The Borough faced off against North Toronto in front of a spirited crowd of 394 eager fans. However, the home team endured a rocky start, plagued by uncharacteristic mistakes that led to multiple goals for the visitors in the first half.
Despite the challenging first 30 minutes, hope was reignited when Alex Maadanian confidently converted a penalty kick, marking his first goal of the season and narrowing the deficit to 3-1 just before halftime. The team emerged for the second half with renewed determination, showcasing a stronger performance.
The turning point came with a brilliant strike from Wahiz Rahimi, securing his first goal of the season and putting The Borough back in contention. However, despite the team’s valiant efforts, TBFC fell just short, ultimately succumbing to a 3-2 defeat against North Toronto.
Although the result was disappointing, there were clear positives to take away from the game. The team demonstrated resilience and created numerous scoring opportunities, highlighting the ability to create - the focus will be on refining the composure in front of goal and maintaining concentration defensively.
Looking ahead to the next challenge against Prostars FC, The Borough is determined to learn from their mistakes and bounce back stronger. With a commitment to making amends, they are prepared to rise to the occasion and showcase their true potential on the pitch.
On to The Next Round of The Cup
With the hard work of the staff, players and everyone behind the scenes alongside the support from you all, we secured the victory over Pickering Football Club in late April, we are now through to the Round of 16 of the League Cup. On May 15th, with a spot in the Quarter Finals, we will travel away to play one of the top Premier League1 sides, Guelph United. It will be a tough game and a real test of where we stand. This will serve as a great opportunity to see how we measure up against a top Premier level side. Of course, it's a Cup game, and in one game, anything can happen! Stay tuned..
