THE BOROUGH FC - PROMOTED TO L1 CHAMPIONSHIP
The Borough Football Club has been promoted following debut season.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Borough FC is thrilled to announce its promotion to the League1 Ontario Men’s Championship Division for the 2025 season. This opportunity comes after Alliance United and Vaughan Azzurri’s “B” teams declined their earned promotions, and Rush Canada opted out of consideration. Borough FC, alongside Sudbury Cyclones, were selected for promotion after submitting a compelling proposal to the League1 Ontario Board, highlighting the club’s growth and success during its 2024 League2 debut.
The Championship Division for 2025 will feature 12 teams, including The Borough FC, Sudbury Cyclones and the relegated Premier Division teams: Guelph United, Hamilton United, and new addition, York United's Reserve team. This expansion creates a balanced and competitive league structure, setting the stage for an exciting new season as The Borough FC takes the next big step in its journey.
This also means The Borough FC's Reserve team will compete in League2 and our U20 Academy will compete in the U20 League1 Reserve, more opportunities for youth to progress and compete at the senior level.
